The program aims to expand opportunities for diverse journalists in watchdog reporting, with an emphasis on journalists of color.
Projects should dig into issues of consequence and of interest to readers of the Miami Herald and el Nuevo Herald.
The fellowship provides US$30,000 that can be used for reporting costs, such as travel, document fees, transcriptions and equipment rentals.The Miami Herald Media Company will provide the fellow with workspace and other editorial support.

Wilson Center's offers fellowship on environmental challenges [Latin America]
Journalists, academics, activists and other professionals residing in Latin America can apply for this fellowship.The Wilson Center's Latin American Program and Vidanta Foundation organize a residential fellowship for those interested in researching concrete solutions to the range of environmental threats faced by countries of the region.
Fellows will spend four to six months at the Wilson Center in Washington, starting Jan. 1, 2020.
The goal of the fellowship is to explore and highlight evidence-based initiatives that have shown promising results and have the potential to be adopted on a wider scale in the region.
Candidates are encouraged to focus their applications on innovative projects and public policies that will address one or more of Latin America's urgent environmental challenges.
Each fellow is assigned round-trip airfare in economy class, a stipend and a furnished office,

The Social Impact Media Awards (SIMA) is accepting entries for its international documentary and educational media competition and showcase, funded by documentary companies and human rights organizations.
The categories are feature, short, virtual reality (VR) and impact video. Feature documentaries must be a minimum of 40 minutes, shorts a maximum of 39 minutes, VR less than 20 minutes in length and impact videos 2 to 20 minutes long.
Films must have been completed between October 2018 and September 2019. All (non-English language) documentaries and educational impact videos must be subtitled in English.
Winners in each category will receive cash prizes, media features and distribution opportunities.
The early deadline is Sept. 26. The late deadline is Oct. 25. The entry fee starts at US$20.

Arab filmmakers can submit their works to compete in this film festival in Basra, Iraq.The Basra International Film Festival is accepting animation films, documentaries, short films, and experimental films.

Fellowships for International Science Reporters enable journalists to cover the latest research and network with peers from around the world at the AAAS Annual Meeting Feb. 13 to 16, 2020 in Seattle, Washington.

Journalism Fellowship available [Worldwide]
Midcareer journalists can apply for a fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.The Knight-Wallace Journalism Fellowship, sponsored by the University of Michigan, brings exceptional journalists from the United States and abroad together for a year of academic study. Fellows devise a personalized plan of study with access to the courses and resources at the university.
Typically, 12 Americans are joined by six to eight international colleagues. Applicants must be granted a leave of absence for the academic year from their employers.
Applicants must have at least five years of professional experience. Print, broadcast and online journalists are eligible to apply. U.S. fellows receive US$75,000 and have their tuition and travel costs covered by the program. The stipend for international fellows varies.
The deadline for international applicants is Dec. 1. U.S. applicants have until Feb. 1, 2020 to apply.
