The Lviv Media Forum will take place May 17 to 19 in Lviv, Ukraine. 
The event addresses future challenges and current problems the media are facing.
The forum topics include investigative reporting, digital revolution in media, media and culture, journalism education and more.
The early-bird registration fee, before March 1, is UAH990 (US$37). From March 1 to April 30, registration costs UAH1,500 (US$56). After April 30, the cost is UAH2,000 (US$74).

Thomson Reuters organises gender equality, children trafficking workshop [Africa]

Journalists with experience covering human trafficking are invited to apply for this free program.
The Thomson Reuters Foundation, in collaboration with the Global Leadership Academy and the GIZ Sector Programme on Gender Equality and Women’s Rights, is organizing the lab "Unveil the hidden presence: trafficking in women and children." 
The program will take place June 25 and 28 in Nairobi, Kenya, and Nov. 10 to 13 in London.
The workshop will gather about 30 high-ranking participants from governments, media, business, academia and civil society to work on approaches to increase awareness on and prevent trafficking in women and children in Africa.
A limited number of travel scholarships is available for the face-to-face meetings.

The Woods accepting applications for journalism fellowship [Worldwide]

Professional writers, producers and editors from around the world can apply for a weeklong, marine science fellowship.
The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is accepting applications for its journalism fellowship program. The program is designed to introduce science journalists to oceanography and ocean engineering through seminars, laboratory visits and brief field expeditions.
The 2018 fellowship will be held Sept. 9 to 14 in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
All fellows receive a travel allowance and room and board for one week.
Applicants should have at least two years of writing, producing or editing experience. Freelancers, book authors and writers from nontraditional media may apply but should be able to show a substantial portfolio of work. International journalists are encouraged to apply.

Yale offers Scholarships for digital publishing course [US]

Magazine journalists can apply for a scholarship to attend a one-week course in New Haven, Connecticut.
The Yale School of Management will host the 2018 Yale Publishing Course: Leadership Strategies in Magazine and Digital Media on July 22 to 27. 
The course is designed for mid-to-senior-level professionals and focuses on new frameworks and skills in leadership, consumer-insight-driven marketing, techniques for innovation and more.
Applicants must work for a nonprofit organization or a small business with 50 employees or less to be eligible for the YPC Innovative Leader Scholarship, which covers the US$5,850 course tuition. Accommodation and travel are not included.

Periodistas Viajeros organises Online workshop on travel journalism [Latin America, Spain]

Anyone interested in travel journalism can register for this online workshop in Spanish.
Periodistas Viajeros organizes a six-week travel journalism workshop, starting March 12.
The workshop aims to provide narrative tools and techniques to work on travel stories through writing, photography or video. Topics include work of prominent travel authors, how to identify and deal with cultural stereotypes and how to choose appropriate digital platforms to publish your travel experiences.
Participants will receive reading materials and exercises, access to a private Facebook group and attend a live webinar.
The cost is ARS3,500, US$180 or EUR150. Those who register before Feb. 25 will receive a 20 percent discount.

Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship seeks women journalists [Worldwide]

Print, broadcast and online women journalists who focus on human rights and social justice can apply for a fellowship.
The International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF) is accepting applications for the Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship, named for the 1998 IWMF Courage in Journalism Award winner and Boston Globe correspondent who was killed in Iraq in May 2003.
The selected journalist will spend an academic year in a tailored program with access to MIT's Center for International Studies and media outlets like The Boston Globe and The New York Times.
Applicants must have a minimum of three years of experience in journalism. Non-native English speakers must also have excellent written and verbal English skills in order to fully participate in and benefit from the program. Freelance journalists may apply.
A stipend will be provided, and expenses, including airfare, housing and health insurance, will be covered.
The application deadline is March 6.

Arab Fund accepting Documentary entries [MENA]

Filmmakers, directors and producers whose projects are related to contemporary Arab culture can apply for this program.
The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) is accepting applications for its documentary program.
The program will support documentary projects in development (up to US$10,000), production and post-production (up to US$50,000). Short-, medium- and feature-length documentary projects are eligible.
Travel costs can be covered by AFAC only when they are part of the implementation of a project.

Competition on environmental journalism open [Worldwide]

Journalists who have completed environmental reporting can submit their work.
The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) is accepting submissions for its annual recognition of excellence in environmental reporting. The awards honor journalists in seven different categories, including feature story, investigative reporting, photography and environmental book.
Journalists need not be environmental specialists to enter; reporters who cover other beats are welcome to submit their work on environmental topics. International journalists are also encouraged to enter, but if their work is written in a language other than English, they must include an English translation with their entry.
The fee for each submission ranges from US$45 for SEJ members to US$110 for non-members.
The winner of the Nina Mason Pulliam Award for the "best of the best" environmental reporting will receive US$10,000.The first place and second place winners in each category will receive US$500 and US$250, respectively. 
The deadline for submissions is April 2.

Journalism School organizes gender workshop [Spain]

Anyone interested in journalism and feminism can attend this workshop.
The UAM/El País Journalism School organizes a workshop focusing on journalism and gender March 10 in Madrid.
Participants will learn the keys to producing information that features a gender perspective, including source finding and language use. The workshop will be led by María Sahuquillo.
