Security Training course available for journalists [US]

Women-identifying journalists with at least one year of experience can apply for this training program.

The International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF) is organizing a security training Sept. 8 to 11 in Slidell, Louisiana, before ONA19 in New Orleans.

IWMF will select 20 journalists who have not had the opportunity to receive security training, especially journalists from underrepresented backgrounds.

Participants will receive travel and lodging.

Conference seeks Journalism entries [Brazil]

Journalism students can submit works to a competitive exhibit in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul state.

The 32nd annual SET Universitário, a conference organized by the School of Communications (FAMECOS, in Portuguese) at the Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, promotes the exchange of experiences among students, professors and professionals in journalism, advertising, cinema, audiovisual and design.

This event will take place Sept. 16 to 18, featuring lectures and workshops, in addition to a college contest.

Students can apply in a variety of categories, including news photography, audio journalism, digital journalism, video journalism, print journalism, multimedia journalism and journalism entrepreneurship.

The winners in each category will receive a certificate and a trophy.

Canongate is accepting entries for the Nan Shepherd Prize, aimed at providing an inclusive platform for new and emerging nature writers.
