Livre.jor offers Journalism contest [Brazil]

Journalists and journalism students in Brazil can apply for this award.

Agency Livre.jor organizes a journalism contest that promotes transparency and the right to access information of public interest.

The categories are professional journalism and college students. Works must have been published between Sept. 29, 2019 and Sept. 28, 2020 on any media platform.

The top three finalists will receive certificates. The overall winner will be awarded a trophy. There is a crowdfunding campaign to offer cash prizes.

The deadline is Oct. 20.

ONA funds Innovation in Journalism [US]

Teams led by educators at a U.S.-based college or university can apply for this fund.

The Online News Association (ONA) is accepting applications for the 2020 Challenge Fund for Innovation in Journalism Education. 

The fund aims to innovate the journalism curriculum using customized versions of the teaching hospital model. Universities are encouraged to collaborate with local news organizations interested in exploring new ways of providing information to their communities.

Winning projects will receive up to US$20,000.

IFFR Trainee Project calls for film submissions [Worldwide]

Journalists ages 30 and younger can apply for a training program in the Netherlands.

The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) seeks applicants for its training program Jan. 27 to Feb. 7, 2021.

The IFFR Trainee Project for Young Film Critics offers five to eight journalists a chance to cover a major international film festival.

The program includes reporting on the festival, publishing a blog on IFFR's website, meeting with experienced film critics and reporting for participants' home media outlets.

The organizers will provide partial refunds of travel costs when participants are traveling from outside Europe.

Candidates must have fluent written and spoken English, and should not be established critics. They should be affiliated with a print or online media outlet to report on the festival. 

The application deadline is Oct. 28.

Kamal Adham Fellowship offers Master’s program in journalism [Egypt]

Graduates of journalism and mass communication who wish to pursue a master’s degree in television and digital journalism can apply for this fellowship.

The Kamal Adham Fellowship at the America University in Cairo covers full or partial tuition for the master's program, in addition to books and transportation fees. 

Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and prove they are in financial hardship. 

Preference is given to graduates of Egyptian public universities and professionals in the broadcasting industry.

The deadline is Oct. 15.
