Investigative journalism workshop on financial forensics available [Latin America]

English-speaking journalists in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bahamas, Belize, Bolivia, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Grenada, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Venezuela, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent, Grenadines and Suriname can apply.

The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), the Association of Caribbean MediaWorkers (ACM), Connectas, and the Organized Crime and Reporting Project (OCCRP) will host a workshop on financial forensics March 21 to 23 in Barbados.

The training, which will be conducted in English, will expand journalists' ability to use digital tools and reporting methods to identify and track financial fraud across borders.

International airfare, lodging and per diem will be covered by ICFJ for journalists living outside Barbados. Participants will have the opportunity to work on their investigative proposal with OCCRP and Connectas editors and to request funding to complete it.

Video Festival accepting entries [MENA]

Filmmakers, curators and institutions are invited to participate in this festival in Cairo, Egypt.

Medrar for Contemporary Art is accepting applications for the ninth edition of the Cairo Video Festival, which will take place in September 2019.

The festival will focus on a new approach to venues scattered around Cairo. Applicants must be involved in the production and distribution of video art and experimental films.

Films must be produced after January 2017 and have up to 30 minutes in length. If entries are in languages other than English, they must include English subtitles.

The deadline is March 20.

National Press Foundation offers training on coverage of international trade [Asia]

Asian-based journalists can apply for this all-expenses-paid training.

The National Press Foundation is offering the workshop "International trade training for journalists in Asia" June 17 to 20 in Hong Kong.

The workshop will focus on all aspects of sustainable international trade, including economic growth, social and environmental impacts, foreign direct investment, China’s unique role, research and data and more.

The organizer will cover will airfare, ground transportation, hotel costs and meals. Participants will be required to share the knowledge they have gained during the program with their colleagues at home.

The deadline is March 5.
