Radcliffe Institute seeks fellows [Worldwide]

Journalists and film, video, sound and new media artists can apply for this fellowship in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The Radcliffe Institute Fellowship Program is a scholarly community where individuals pursue advanced work across a wide range of academic disciplines, professions and creative arts, including journalism.
The institute provides stipends of up to US$77,500 for one year with additional funds for project expenses. Fellows receive office or studio space and access to libraries and other resources of Harvard University during the fellowship year, which extends from September 2018 through May 2019.
Applications are judged on the quality and significance of the proposed project and the applicant’s record of achievement and promise.
Visual, film, video, sound and new media artists may apply for either one or two semesters.
Journalism applicants must have worked professionally in the field for at least five years.
The application deadline is Sept. 14.

Climate Tracker seeks video reporters [EU, MENA]

Image result for Climate TrackerYoung filmmakers from the European Union and the Middle East can apply for this program.
Climate Tracker is selecting video reporters to attend a climate change conference in either Germany or Latvia. The conferences, which will take place in July and August, will feature some of the world's experts in climate change. 
Applicants must make a 30-second video highlighting a climate innovation or a climate innovator in their country or region. 
The selected video reporters will receive flights and accomodations.
The deadline is June 25.

Puroperiodismo seeks innovative experiences in journalism [Latin America]

Puroperiodismothe digital magazine of the School of Journalism at Alberto Hurtado University in Chile, wants to give visibility to innovative experiences of Latin American journalism.
Professionals experimenting with new narratives or technologies, building a new business model, creating a data team, developing an app and more are encouraged to tell about their work in the magazine.
Submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Instagram competition accepting entries [Jordan]

The United Nations in Jordan has launched an Instagram competition open to people ages 15 to 30.
Contestants are invited to take innovative and creative pictures using their phones of anything that represents one of the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals.
A panel will select three to eight winners. Prizes will be announced at a later stage.

Contest highlights journalism research [Brazil]

The Brazilian Association of Researchers in Journalism (SBPJor, in Portuguese) organizes an award to honor those who have contributed significantly to consolidate journalism as a field of scientific thinking in Brazil.

The award consists of four categories: undergraduate, master's, doctorate and senior researcher. 
Works must have been published in 2016.
The winners will receive diplomas and plaques.
The deadline is July 10.

Earth Journalism Network offers fisheries reporting grants [West Africa]

Journalists and other expert media practitioners who want to cover stories related to fisheries management in West Africa can apply for grants of up to US$500.
The Earth Journalism Network is offering reporting grants to support fisheries and environmental journalism as part of its West Africa Fisheries Journalism Project.
Suggested topics include the impact of overfishing and IUU fishing on coastal communities; the use of destructive fishing practices, bycatch and fish aggregating devices; community-led fisheries management initiatives; poverty reduction and food security through sustainable fisheries; challenges of transboundary management of fisheries and shared stock.
Proposals that focus on new topics or stories that have not been widely covered are preferred. Freelancers and staff from all types of media outlets—both large and small— are encouraged to submit applications.
The deadline is July 6.
