Fellowship for journalists from developing countries available [Worldwide]

Journalists ages 22 to 35 from several developing countries and countries in transition can apply for a fellowship.
The Reham Al-Farra (RAF) Memorial Journalists Fellowship Program, established by the United Nations, provides journalists with an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the work of the United Nations in New York. It is also an opportunity to meet journalists from other countries and exchange ideas with UN communication professionals. 
The 2018 fellowship will take place Sept. 16 to Oct. 6. The program is open to journalists from around the world, typically selecting about 15 candidates, each from a different country. Participants will receive airfare and a daily allowance.

Global Media Forum to showcase startups [Germany]

Media entrepreneurs can apply to present their startups and join a community of media innovators.
German media incubators VorOrNRW and Medialab Bayern are inviting pitches for the Global Media Forum June 13 in Bonn.
Digital startups will showcase their projects at "Rocking jo
urnalism: startups and talents in media innovation." The audience will vote on the most exciting startups, and the winners will receive prizes.

Media and Digital Literacy Academy open [Lebanon]

Young media educators, students, journalists and activists can apply for this training in Beirut.
The Institute for Media Training and Research in the Lebanese American University has launched the sixth edition of the Media and Digital Literacy Academy Aug. 7 to 18.
Participants will attend media literacy lectures and digital workshops, as well as cultural excursions and social activities.
Tuition costs US$2,000. Full and partial scholarships are available.

The Economist seeks editor [Asia]

Journalists with at least five years of editing experience can apply for a position.
The Economist Group is looking for an editor to join the Thought Leadership division. 
Responsibilities creating and executing innovative content, conceptualizing and managing sponsored content programs that are produced by The Economist Intelligence Unit, and working closely with clients and members of the editorial team.
Candidates must have native English skills and extensive background in analyzing, writing and editing articles, papers and/or books.

Grants for editorial photography available [Worldwide]

Photojournalists looking to pursue projects of personal and journalistic significance can apply for a grant.
The Grants for Editorial Photography, sponsored by Getty Images, support compelling social, political and cultural stories.
A total of three grants of US$15,000 will be provided. The funds can be used to cover a wide variety of expenses, including travel, equipment and related expenses.
Applicants must submit a 500-word summary of the project proposal, a short bio and 20 to 25 images. The application must be in English.

Journalism and Women Symposium offer fellowships [US]

Women journalists can apply to attend a conference.
The Journalism and Women Symposium (JAWS) offers fellowships that cover travel and registration to the JAWS Conference and Mentoring Project (CAMP), for three days of training, networking and professional development.
This year’s JAWS CAMP will take place Oct. 12 to 14 in Welches, Oregon.
The Diversity Fellowship seeks journalists who are traditionally underrepresented in newsrooms, including but not limited to women of color, journalists in the LGBTQ community and those with disabilities. 
The Betsy Wade Legacy Fellowship supports a working newswoman with at least five years of experience chosen for the commitment to diversity represented in her work and interests, and whose work reflects the value of journalism in safeguarding a democratic society.
The Next Step Fellowship is aimed at veteran journalists. The Entrepreneurial Fellowship helps a woman journalist move forward with an innovative journalism project. And the Emerging Journalist Fellowship is open to professionals in the early stages of their career.

Abraji calls calls for papers on investigative journalism [Brazil]

Journalism academics, students and professionals are invited to submit their papers.
The Research Seminar in Investigative Journalism will take place June 27, followed by 13th International Congress of Investigative Journalism June 28 and 29 in São Paulo. The event is organized by the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism (Abraji, in Portuguese).
About 10 papers will be selected on the following topics: the theory and practice of investigative journalism in Brazil; investigative journalism and safety; legal aspects of investigative journalism; the Access to Information Law in Brazil and the world; data-driven journalism and Computer-Assisted Reporting (CAR); teaching investigative journalism, CAR and data-driven journalism; and combating misinformation through investigative journalism.
Abstracts must be in Portuguese and less than 4,000 characters long. The deadline is April 30.
