The Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library presents the Foreign View photography contest.
The aim of this project is to depict the social, political, cultural and everyday life experiences of people from different countries. This year’s contest motto is "Ecology of life."
Russian photographers who take pictures abroad and foreigners who photograph life in Russia can submit their images. 
Photographs may be of any genre: portrait, reportage, staged photo, landscape, still life or photo collage.
The submission deadline is Dec. 1.

Crowdfunding Match Program for fact-checkers open [Worldwide]

The International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) has launched its Crowdfunding Match Program, which will match up to US$85,000 in total over the next three years in contributions made to crowdfunding campaigns.
Funds will be available for the following time periods: US$10,000 in September to December 2017; US$30,000 in January to December 2018; US$30,000 January to December 2019; and US$15,000 in January to June 2020.
Each campaign may receive up to US$15,000.
Applicants must hail from a fact-checking organization that is a signatory of the IFCN code of principlesor commit to complying with the code’s application and verification process by the end of the campaign.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Report for America launched [US]

Image result for Report For AmericaEmerging journalists and local news organizations are invited to participate in this program that seeks to strengthen local media.
Report For America (RFA), a project funded by journalists Charles Sennott and Steven Waldman with support from The GroundTruth ProjectGoogle News Lab and others, will place journalists in local newsrooms in under-covered corners of America.
RFA is looking for reporting corps members to spend one year in a local newsroom, with the opportunity to renew. Newsrooms with a tradition of excellence and mentoring can apply to host a journalist.
For the first year, 50 percent of the journalist's salary will be paid by RFA, 25 percent by the local newsroom and 25 percent from local donors that the newsroom has to help find.

Course on sustainable development and migration open [Colombia]

The Thomson Reuters Foundation, in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, is offering an intensive training program Oct. 26 and 27 to provide information, tools and strategies to understand the complex issues surrounding the Sustainable Development Goals.
The workshop will enable journalists to better report the SDGs, especially in the context of migration.
The course itself is free of charge, but selected applicants who are not based in Bogotá will have to pay for their travel and accommodation expenses.
The deadline is Oct. 15.

Wilson Center offers public policy fellowships [Worldwide]

The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is accepting applications for its nine-month residential fellowship program in Washington.
Fellows will conduct research and write in their areas of interest, while interacting with policymakers, Wilson Center staff and other scholars in residence. The center accepts policy-relevant, non-advocacy fellowship proposals that address key challenges confronting the United States and the world.
Fellowships include a stipend and 75 percent of health insurance premiums for fellows who elect center coverage. Travel costs are also covered.

Knight Center hosts MOOC on immersive journalism [Latin America, Spain]

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, through its Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), is offering the free course “Intro to immersive journalism: virtual reality and 360° video" Oct. 2 to Nov. 5
The course will provide an introduction to the virtual reality as it applies to nonfiction storytelling and journalism, ranging from content creation to content consumption.
Participants will explore the quickly changing landscape of immersive journalism, current VR journalism experiences, the diverse hardware/software to produce experiences and ethical questions.
The instructor is Robert Hernandez, a veteran of digital journalism who teaches at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School.
