Sanlam Awards accepting entries on financial journalism reporting [South Africa]

Journalists working in print, online or broadcast media can apply.

The Sanlam Awards for Excellence in Financial Journalism recognize and reward exceptional business journalism in South Africa.

Categories include individual business/companies, economy, financial markets, consumer financial education, African growth story, newcomer, lifetime achievement and journalist of the year.

Works must have been published or broadcast in 2018. With the exception of the African growth category, only stories published or broadcast in South Africa are eligible. Stories originally published in a language other than English must be accompanied by an English translation.

The winner of each category receives a prize of ZAR20,000 while the overall winner receives an additional ZAR35,000, and the best newcomer merit award amounts to ZAR20,000.

The deadline is Feb. 28.

Open call for data journalism collaborators [Spain, Latin America]

Anyone interested in collaborating in data journalism projects can apply for this program.

Medialab Prado organizes the international data journalism workshop "
Follow the food" March 25 to 29 in Madrid. The event will focus on the food industry and its relation to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Collaborators will be part of the development team of the project of their choice, bringing their knowledge and ideas to the workgroup and learning from the groups and mentors.

The names of the collaborators will appear in the project's credits. Medialab Prado will offer lodging to 20 collaborators from outside Madrid.

The deadline to apply is March 16.

Film festival accepting submission on cultural diversity [Worldwide]

Filmmakers around the world can submit works to this international festival in Yerevan, Armenia.
The Yerevan International Film Festival Golden Apricot, organized with support from Armenia's
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will take place July 7 to 14.

The festival seeks films representing diverse ethnic groups, religions and nations.

The competition includes international feature and documentary films sections.

Competitive films must have had their first public screening after July 15, 2018.

The winners will receive the trophies "Golden Apricot" and "Silver Apricot."

The deadline is April 15.
