Grant for audiovisual productions available [Brazil]

Independent documentary, fiction or animation projects can compete for funding.
Banco Regional de Desenvolvimento do Extremo Sul (BRDE) has launched a film grant.
A total of BRL25,000,000 will be available to producers based in Brazil's north, northeast, midwest and south regions, and in the states of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo. The grant is also open to distributors based in any region of the country as long as the project is based in the regions listed. 
Projects will be accepted on an ongoing basis.

CNN offers internship program [EU]

Recent broadcast journalism graduates or graduates from a related field seeking a career in journalism can apply for an internship in London. 
CNN hosts several internships ranging from newsgathering to special feature programs, digital and sports.
The next intern program will run from Jan. 1 to April 30.
Candidates must be British/EU citizens or have the right to work in the United Kingdom long term.
The deadline is Nov. 1.

The Culture Resource offers Video production grants [MENA]

Artists and writers from the Arab region ages 35 and younger can apply for grants.
The Culture Resource is accepting applications for its production awards. The program supports artists and writers and offers grants to enable them to produce their first creative projects.
Grants of up to US$10,000 are available for projects in literature, music, performing arts and visual arts, and of up to US$15,000 for projects in cinema and video. 
Applications must be completed in Arabic, apart from the spaces that require English.
The deadline is Dec. 7.

IWMF offers reporting fellowships [Worldwide]

Women journalists with at least three years of experience can apply for a reporting fellowship.
The International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF) is organizing Adelante (Moving Forward), a five-year reporting initiative that aims to amplify the voices of women journalists in Latin America and strengthen their professional development, impact and safety.
The next group of fellows will travel Feb. 22 to March 14, 2019. Fellows will begin their trip in Mexico City, where they will complete a comprehensive security training and an orientation. They will then depart for six days of reporting in Tijuana with the opportunity to report from Mexicali, Ensenada and San Diego, followed by seven days of reporting based in Ciudad Juárez with the opportunity to report from El Paso and Las Cruces.
The IWMF pays for fellowship-related expenses including travel, lodging, meals and fixers/interpreters unless a selected journalist’s news organization wishes to assume these costs.
The deadline is Oct. 28.

Fellowship for journalism students available [US]

Graduate and undergraduate students studying in American universities and Americans studying abroad can apply for one of 16 scholarships or fellowships.
The Overseas Press Club Foundation is offering US$3,000 scholarships and funding for overseas experience.
The foundation pays travel and living expenses for interns in foreign bureaus at leading news organizations, including the Associated Press, Reuters, GroundTruth Project, The Wall Street Journal and Forbes and at foreign English-language media companies such as the South China Morning Post.  
Winners will also attend a reception in February 2019 in New York.
Applicants must submit a cover letter, a resume and a 500-word essay about a region or international issue on which the applicant would like to focus.

Funds available for innovative projects [Eurasia]

Content producers interested in reaching Russian-speaking audiences in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan can apply for grants.
The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and the Media Diversity Institute (MDI) are accepting applications for its Eurasia Media Innovation Challenge, which invites applications for funding projects to develop new ways to inform and engage audiences with entertaining, locally-relevant, high-quality content.
Possible proposals include entertainment series, youth-focused content that utilizes new technologies, satire, cultural programs, mobile apps, games, documentaries and radio programs.
The program will offer grants between US$5,000 and US$100,000.
The winners will receive the funds needed to cover the costs of their projects, mentoring and technical assistance to support their projects’ development.
Only Russian-language projects are considered. 
The deadline is Nov. 11.

Investigative reporting contest available [MENA]

Journalists from Arab countries who have produced investigations through ARIJ or investigated an issue on their own are eligible for this prize.
The Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ), based in Jordan, has launched its 2018 investigative journalism prize.
The contest is open to journalists who have produced investigations through ARIJ in five media categories: multimedia investigations, feature film (minimum 12 minutes in length), short investigative film (8 to 12 minutes in length), multimedia investigation about the environment and short or feature film that focuses on human rights.
Other Arab journalists can submit their works for the best data journalism story award and the best investigation report in the Arab world (multimedia, short or feature film).
Works can be in English or Arabic and must have been published or broadcast between Nov. 10, 2017 and Oct. 31, 2018.
Winners will have the opportunity to join ARIJ's team by applying for workshops that enhance their investigation skills. Also, ARIJ will provide mentors to assist journalists who aim to complete an investigation, in addition to a financial grant covering the costs of investigation and legal counseling before publishing the report.
The deadline is Oct. 31.

Program focuses on blockchain reporting [Asia]

Technology, business or legal journalists with at least three years of experience can apply for this free training
Blockchain AI company Bitgrit and its PR agency Redhill Asia are organizing a full-day blockchain reporting masterclass on Nov. 7 in Hong Kong. 
The training will provide an overview of the blockchain space for journalists. Educational sessions will be mixed with interactive exercises and expert panels to give participants a well-rounded perspective on covering this emerging technology.
Applicants must submit three articles published in the past 12 months.
Eligible attendees will also receive complimentary tickets to the Digital Media Asia conference on Nov. 8 to 9.
The deadline is Oct. 18.
