The Gates Cambridge Scholarship program, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, allows international applicants to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject at the University of Cambridge.
Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate a clear ability to lead and a commitment to the greater good.
The scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge, airfare, stipend, family allowance, visa costs and some additional funding.
The deadline is Oct. 11 for U.S. residents and Dec. 6 for international applicants.

The Atlantic offers media fellowship [US]

The Atlantic is offering a paid editorial fellowship January to December 2018.
Fellows participate in the Atlantic Media Academy, a comprehensive curriculum providing a 360-degree view of the media industry covering the editorial, operational and economic sides of both magazine and digital journalism today.
Fellowship responsibilities may include blogging, copy editing, fact checking, multimedia editing, social media and more.

Online workshop on mobile video open [Latin America]

The Digital Journalism Center at the University of Guadalajara offers the course "Video production on mobile devices" Oct. 9 to 23.
Participants will learn how to use mobile apps to produce news videos from a smartphone or tablet, ready to be published on social networks and other platforms.
The workshop will be given by Fidel RomeroThe cost is MXN700 for Mexicans and US$40 for residents outside Mexico.

Cross-border journalism program open [Europe, Central Asia]

"Perspectives," a joint initiative of the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the Fritt Ord Foundation and the Thomson Reuters Foundation, hosts the "Cross-Border Journalism" program, which will give participants from different countries an opportunity to work together.
The selected candidates will receive funding and distance mentoring, in addition to participating in seminars.
Possible project topics include climate changes, food products and their export/import, media, civil society and more.
The language of the program is Russian.

Harvard offers media innovation fellowship [Worldwide]

Image result for Nieman Foundation for JournalismJournalists worldwide working for news organizations in a business, technology or leadership capacity can apply for a fellowship at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The Nieman Foundation for Journalism and the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society will host at least one fellow for an academic year to carry out a research project on journalism innovation.
Candidates must propose a project relating to journalism’s digital transformation. Examples might include ideas for new revenue streams to fund journalism, the construction of new tools for reporting or research into news consumption patterns.
Most fellows receive a US$65,000 stipend. Fellows receive additional allowances for housing, childcare and health insurance.
The application deadline is Dec. 1, 2017 for international journalists and Jan. 31, 2018 for U.S. journalists.

Journalism contest to focus on two-wheeled vehicles as effective transportation [Brazil]

The Abraciclo Journalism Award aims to promote journalistic works on the use of two-wheeled vehicles as an effective means of transportation. The contest is organized by the Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Motorcycles, Mopeds, Scooters and Bicycles.
The prize categories are motorcycle, bicycle and the Industrial Pole of Manaus. The first, second, and third place winners will receive BRL7,000, BRL3,000 and BRL2,000, respectively.
Works must have been published or broadcast in Portuguese between Jan. 1, 2016 and Sept. 30, 2017.
The entry deadline is Oct. 2.
