TED fellows program open [Worldwide]

Media entrepreneurs, human rights activists and photographers can apply for a TED fellowship to attend "Bigger than us" conference in Vancouver, Canada.
The TED Fellows program is designed to bring together young trailblazers from a variety of fields who have shown unusual accomplishment and courage.
Twenty fellows will be selected to attend theTED2019 conference to be held April 15 to 19, 2019. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend pre-conference programs with training by speakers.

Applicants must be proficient in English and have a proven track record of great work in their field.
TED pays for round-trip economy airfare, ground transportation to and from the conference location, meals and shared accommodation on site.
The deadline is Aug. 26.

Journalism Book Award seeks nominations [US]

Print, broadcast or digital journalists who have written full-length books can be nominated for a US$15,000 award.
The New York Public Library presents the Helen Bernstein Book Award for Excellence in Journalism. Factors for consideration include the book's significance, its influence on public policy and a high standard of reporting and writing.
 Books scheduled for publication between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2018 are eligible. Works of fiction, anthologies, collections of columns or articles are not allowed.
Books must be nominated by publishers or agents, not the authors. Nominations must include an application form, 12 copies of the book, reviews and the author's bio.
The deadline is Aug. 31.

Journalism prize seeks entries on transportation, environmental [Brazil]

Professional journalists in Brazil can apply for this award.
The CNT Journalism Prize, organized by Brazil's National Confederation of Transportation (CNT, in Portuguese), aims to promote a better understanding of transportation in a variety of sectors and highlight potential problems within the system.
Submitted work, which must be related to transportation and environmental issues, must have been published or broadcast in the Brazilian media between Aug. 8, 2017 and Aug. 8, 2018.
The organizer will award a total of BRL270,000 cash prizes to the winners of each category --print (newspaper and magazine), photography, radio, television, internet, and environment and transportation and the grand prize, totaling BRL270,000.
The entry deadline is Aug. 6.

Grants for reporting cross-border illicit financial flows, Tax abuse available [Africa, Asia, Europe]

Teams of African, Asian and European journalists can apply for a reporting grant. 
Journalismfund.eu will support stories on cross-border illicit financial flows, tax abuse and corruption in Africa, Asia and Europe, as part of the Money Trail project.
The project will conduct 10 application rounds over the next three years. The total amount per call is about EUR50,000.
Teams must consist of at least one African, one Asian and/or one European journalist.
The first deadline is July 15, followed by Sept. 30 and Nov. 15.
