Think tank Adelphi and Germany's Renewable Energies Agency are organizing three Climate and Energy Media Study Tours, starting in September in Germany.
Each three-day program will be conducted in English or German, with simultaneous interpretation in English.
Participation is free of charge. Accommodation and travel expenses during the tour will be covered by the organizers. Travel expenses to Germany will be provided upon request.

Documentary photography workshop open [Colombia]

Escuela Zona Cinco will offer the documentary photography workshop "Cómo contar nuestras historias" ("How to tell our stories"), beginning Aug. 11 and running for five sessions. 
Participants will learn the necessary skills and steps to tell a compelling photo story and address a topic with a documentary perspective in every aspect: from conception (what to tell and how) to the possible impacts of the story on the subjects and publishing formats.
Registration is ongoing until spaces are filled. The cost is COP333,900 (US$110).

Training in science journalism offered [Egypt]

The project “Schreiben über Wissenschaft” is a cooperation between the Goethe-Institut and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
The goal of the project is to foster the relationship between the sciences on the one side and journalism on the other, in order to support the transfer of knowledge to a broader public and to enhance the general response to the achievements of researchers from all disciplines.
The workshop will take place Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 outside of Cairo, with the last day in Cairo. The program will be held in English.
Transport and accommodation will be provided by the Goethe-Institut.

Anna Lindh Foundation: Call for Applications for Mediterranean Journalist Award

The Anna Lindh Foundation is seeking applications for its Mediterranean Journalist Award to reward productions tackling intercultural issues between and within Euro-Mediterranean societies, ranging from diversity, tolerance, freedom of expression, fighting xenophobia, extremism and terrorism.
Special attention will be given to works focusing on the theme “Intercultural Cities and Migration”, as announced on the occasion of the Anna Lindh Foundation MED FORUM.
In addition, on the occasion of the landmark 10th edition, a Special Alumni Award will be bestowed by the Anna Lindh Foundation Secretariat for outstanding contribution by Journalist Award alumni in the promotion of intercultural dialogue.
Award Information
The 10th edition of the Anna Lindh Mediterranean Journalist Award 2017 will award up to four winners, including individual cash prizes of 2500 Euros.
Award Categories
Works eligible for the award can be from press, online, TV/radio or Photography.
  • Press: All articles published in printed newspapers/magazines/periodicals. Articles must be written in a journalistic style. Academic papers will not be accepted. The article must not exceed 20,000 characters.
  • Online: Written materials published via the Internet, particularly material created by journalists. Blogs, social media platforms and other emerging forms of online communication are acknowledged as part of the online media landscape and online journalism to the extent that the content is produced in a journalistic style.
  • Radio and Television: TV Entries which can include interviews, reportage, documentaries, panel discussions, news stories or reports published on the radio and/or TV. Entries duration must not exceed 1 hour.
  • Photography: Photographs published online and/or printed media by for professional or non-professional photographers.
Eligibility Criteria
  • The competition is open to journalists who are nationals of one of the 42 countries of the Union for the Mediterranean, in addition to Libya and Syria.
  • Priority will be given to young journalists at an early stage of the professional career development.
  • Works could have been published between 1st January 2017 and 27th September 2017.
