The Stringers Africa is organizing a conference on African women in the media on the theme‘VISIBILITY’ designed to equip journalists through workshops, inspirational stories in the media industry and academic panels.
The conference will commence from June 21 will feature a Pitch Zone and journalists can win  $1,000 to produce a gender focused story.
The academic keynote speech at the #AWIM18 #AWIM conference will be delivered by Professor of Communication , University of  Lagos, Abigail Ogwezzy

Massive Online Open Course on English for journalists available [Worldwide]

Anyone can attend this free, self-paced course.
The University of California, Berkeley is offering the Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) "English for Journalists" through edX. The course is divided into two five-week sessions.
The course is designed by the U.S. State Department and other organizations for non-native English speakers who are interested in developing the skills needed for journalism. Students are expected to spend 3 to 4 hours a week.
Participants will understand current issues facing journalists globally; improve their English vocabulary and grammar in order to write more effective stories; communicate more effectively with others in interviews and reports; and learn about issues of ethics, equality and fairness as they apply to journalism.

Mada Masr is looking for two part-time morning reporters to join its team in Cairo.
Responsibilities include producing a daily analytical overview of the Arabic-language press in Egypt, written in English, and sending it to subscribers every morning. 
Reporters will work two to three days per week, primarily from home but in close relation with the digest copy editor and editor.
