Journalism fellowship available [Worldwide]

Budding journalists can apply for a fellowship in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation - TRT World organizes a fellowship program. The TRT World Fellowship is an intensive program designed to develop, integrate and apply the skill sets of young talents from around the world in support of its newsroom.

Fellows will join the TRT World Team June 17 to Aug. 10, working in one of Turkey's newest channels. They will also take intensive language courses during the program.

The fellowship provides a travel scholarship, a stipend to cover the costs of living in Istanbul, TRT World accommodations, services and counseling.

Candidates must be proficient in English and in the early stages of their career.

The deadline is March 31.

Fiocruz Brasília offers seminar on health and misinformation [Brazil]

Journalists, students and others can attend this free event on health and misinformation.

Fiocruz Brasília will host an international seminar on public health and the press March 18 to 21 in Brasília.

The event will examine how false news can be harmful to people's health and affect the full implementation of health policy in Brazil. The program will also feature a free course on "fake news" and health, and a cartoon exhibition.

To participate in the cartoon exhibition, professional and amateur cartoonists can submit their work about the topic until March 1.

The registration deadline is March 15.

Media grants available [Russia]

Individuals and organizations can apply for a grant.

The Russian Geographical Society (RGS) is accepting applications for its 2019 media grant contest.

Projects should focus on RGS's initiatives, including, but not limited to, its expeditions, its history and the unique geographical and heritage potential of Russia.

The amount of individual grants is RUB1.8 million.

The deadline is March 1.

Reporting Project seeks fellows [Worldwide]

Emerging journalists can apply for a fellowship to report on the global rise of populist authoritarianism.

The GroundTruth Project, with support from the MacArthur Foundation, will select five applicants for a two-month reporting fellowship, which will be the basis for the 2019 season of the GroundTruth Podcast.

Although podcasting experience is not required, applicants must include clear and detailed ideas for how they will convey the reporting using evocative and compelling audio.

The fellowship offers US$10,000 to cover travel, lodging, risk assessment, insurance, training and podcast production.

The deadline is March 17.
