Journalism fellowship available [Asia]

Journalists based in Asia with at least five years of professional experience can apply for this residential fellowship.

The Temasek Foundation International and the Institute of Policy Studies at the National University of Singapore organize the Asia Journalism Fellowship program, which enables about 15 journalists to spend three months in Singapore.

This year's fellowship runs from July 15  to Oct. 4. Fellows take part in seminars and workshops designed to sharpen their professional skills and deepen their understanding of key journalism trends.

The organizers provide airfare, accommodations and a stipend to cover basic living expenses.

IWMF seeks nomination for women's courage in journalism award [Worldwide]

Full-time and freelance women journalists working in print, broadcast or online media in any country can be nominated for an award.

The International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF) is seeking nominations for its Courage in Journalism Award and Lifetime Achievement Award. The awards honor women who have demonstrated extraordinary strength of character in journalism under difficult or dangerous circumstances.

Winners will receive cash prizes, which have yet to be determined, and will travel to the United States to attend the award ceremonies.

Self-nominations are not accepted.

Press Fellowship available [US]

Print, broadcast and online journalists in the United States can apply for a US$75,000 fellowship in New York.

The Edward R. Murrow Press Fellowships seek journalists who have covered international news for a 10-month period of writing and analysis at the Council of Foreign Relations.

The program enables the fellow to increase competency in reporting and interpreting events abroad and promotes the quality of responsible and discerning journalism.

Candidates must have professional experience as a foreign correspondent or editor, a firm grounding in foreign policy and a clear, creative and original application statement.

The deadline is March 1.

BBC hosts journalism contest [Africa]

Professional journalists fluent in English can compete for this award.

The BBC is seeking individuals living and working in Africa, who combine strong journalism skills, on-air flair and an exceptional talent in telling African stories for the BBC World News Komla Dumor Award.

The winner will receive a three-month training and development opportunity with the BBC in London, starting in early September 2019.

The BBC will cover travel, accommodations and visa expenses, in addition to providing GBP2,000 per month and a one-off payment of GBP5,000.

The deadline is Feb. 26.
