Experienced journalists fluent in English and Portuguese can apply for this remote, part-time position.

The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting is looking for a regional coordinator for the Rainforest Journalism Fund in the Amazon region.

Responsibilities include helping to identify regional and local news outlets that the Center will partner; conducting a baseline survey of coverage of tropical rainforest issues; promoting the grant opportunities through direct outreach; translating communications for dissemination in the media; and more.

Candidates must have at least 10 years of experience, an established network of contacts in the region and knowledge of the political and legislative background to the situation of the Amazon region today.

The Pan-African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards, sponsored by Continental Reinsurance, seek works that have raised awareness and understanding of the insurance or reinsurance sector in Africa.

The competition offers four awards: Best Re/Insurance Print Article – English, Best Re/Insurance Broadcast (TV/Radio) Article – English, Best Re/Insurance Online Article – English and Best Re/Insurance French Article – Print, Online or Broadcast (Radio/TV).

Works can be a published article (print or online) or a broadcast radio/television clip in English or French.

The winners will be announced at the Continental Re’s annual CEO Summit in 2020.

CFPD offers online course on communication management [Latin America]

Journalists and communication managers can register for this online course.

The Center for Digital Journalism (CFPD) at the University of Guadalajara offers a communication management course Jan. 27 to March 1, 2020.

Participants will learn effective and assertive communication strategies tailored to their type of organization, as well as communications management in crisis situations.

The cost of the training is MXN3,466 for residents in Mexico and US$180 for those living outside of Mexico.

UNESCO seeks nominations for press freedom award [Worldwide]

Journalists, organizations or institutions that promote press freedom worldwide can be nominated for a US$25,000 award.

The UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize will recognize a significant contribution to press freedom, especially in high-risk areas.

Member states, international/regional organizations or professional/nongovernmental organizations working in the field of journalism and freedom of expression can nominate up to three candidates.

The recipient will be recognized during the World Press Freedom Day ceremony to be held April 23, 2020 in the Hague, Netherlands.

Nominations must be submitted in English or French and include a brief biography or history of the nominee.

The deadline is Feb. 15, 2020.
