Journalists ages 21 to 35 can apply to attend a seminar in Israel on conflict journalism.
Academic and professional journalists will discuss the challenges of reporting in conflict zones at the "Media in Conflicts Seminar" on Sept. 3 to 7 in Herzliya, Israel. The event is organized by the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy.
The conference includes expert lectures, strategic tours of Israel and surrounding conflict zones, hands-on workshops and a fully funded stay in Israel, excluding airfare.
The deadline is June 7.

Cuonda and CUNY call for podcast pitches in Spanish [Latin America, Spain]

Image result for cuny universityJournalists, journalism students or podcast aficionados are invited to submit a podcast pitch.
Podcast platform Cuonda, in collaboration with the University of the City of New York (CUNY), seek to promote new podcast ideas in Spanish during the Latin Media Summit on June 23 and 24 in New York.
Participants must send their podcast idea, a general script of two episodes and a pilot.
The winner will be able to produce, host and promote a full season of his or her podcast on the Cuonda platform, which will also provide support to find sponsors and create quality content.
The deadline is June 1.

IJNet's Mentoring Center accepting applications [MENA]

Image result for ijnetMedia entrepreneurs in the Middle East and North Africa have a new opportunity to take their digital projects to the next level.
IJNet Arabic has launched the fourth round of its virtual mentoring center for media entrepreneurs. Applicants must be working on digital media startups that target Arabic-speaking audiences. 
The program will select 16 semi-finalists and then select eight participants from that pool. Participants will be paired with a mentor who will help them develop a plan to grow and sustain their startups over a one-year period. Training includes project management skills, social media strategies, digital innovation and business sustainability. 
Besides attending virtual meetings and check-ins with their mentors, participants will receive full funding to travel to either Jordan or Lebanon to meet with their mentors in person. Midway through the program, the eight participants and the mentors will meet in Amman, Jordan, for a three-day bootcamp on entrepreneurship. 
The deadline to apply is May 31.

Reporting Right Livelihood grants launched [Worldwide]

Image result for Right Livelihood Award FoundationPrint, online, photo and broadcast journalists and journalism students in their final year of studies can apply for a grant.
The Right Livelihood Award Foundation is launching a grant scheme to support impartial and high-quality reporting on the work of "Alternative Nobel" Laureates. The initiative seeks to support stories that focus on real solutions to global problems. 
The grants will cover travel, accommodation and communication costs related to the story, as well as a modest honorarium.
Applicants can be based anywhere in the world; however, they must produce the report in one of the following languages: Arabic, English, French, German, Hindi, Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish or Turkish.
The deadline is June 15.
