Cultural diversity program for journalists open [Eastern Europe, Caucasus]

Broadcasters and TV journalists from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine can apply for this program.

The ADAMI Media Prize for Cultural Diversity in Eastern Europe is launching the ADAMI TANDEM program, which provides journalists from Eastern Partnership countries the opportunity to build connections with Western European broadcasting companies and to jointly produce news pieces with colleagues from the European Union.

Candidates must submit proposals for short news stories (up to 4 minutes long) on cultural diversity topics.

Selected journalists will be teamed with journalists from EU broadcast organizations to form "tandems." Each "tandem" will produce a short news piece to broadcast on channels in both Eastern and Western Europe.

Participating organizations from Western Europe include TV stations ZDF and SWR from Germany, the French-German cultural channel ARTE and Deutsche Welle.

The deadline is June 24.

National Geographic seeks data visualizations on plastic waste [Worldwide]

Data visualization teams or individuals are invited to develop a data visualization or infographic to illustrate a data set relating to plastic waste or pollution.

National Geographic and Sky Ocean Ventures have launched the Ocean Plastic Innovation Challenge, which features a data visualization track.

Up to four teams will be selected as finalists and will work with the National Geographic Partners graphics team to refine their submissions.

The winning team will receive U$10,000, and their work will be considered for digital publication by National Geographic.

The deadline is June 11.

Quinto Elemento Lab offers grants for investigative journalism projects [Mexico]

Freelance journalists residing in Mexico can apply for a reporting grant.

Quinto Elemento Lab has launched its third grant program for investigative journalism projects.

Entries must address aspects of the Mexican reality, and the resulting coverage must be relevant and intended to create an impact.

The organization will offer up to MXN85,000 to selected projects, as well as mentorship, edition, design, distribution strategy and production of each investigative piece.

The funds must cover reporters' salary, expenses derived from the investigation itself and travel expenses. The projects should be developed and published within two months.

The deadline is June 6.

Al Murrassel seeks freelancers [MENA]

Freelance journalists who want to cover stories in the MENA region can apply for this remote position.

The Reporter (Al Murrassel), a new independent media organization based in Washington, is looking for journalists, with experience or knowledge in producing high-quality, in-depth and slow reporting in Arabic.

Candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience and excellent command in Arabic as a mother language in addition to fluency in English.

The Reporter will offer financial compensation for the articles once approved for publishing. And It will hire the outstanding freelance reporters on a full-time, remote basis where they will be regularly paid to do the fact-based, slow reporting.

Asia Asset Management seeks finance reporters [China, Malaysia]

Asia Asset Management, an Asian journal on asset management and pensions, is looking for finance reporters.
