The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University seeks applicants from Hong Kong for the Lion Rock Spirit Fellowship.
Fellows will spend two terms in Oxford where they join a diverse group of journalists from other parts of the world. Successful applicants will conduct research into issues important to their professional development as a journalist.
The fellowship covers program fees, a modest living allowance and travel expenses.

Nieman Foundation offers journalism research fellowships [Worldwide]

The Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard offers short-term visiting fellowships for research projects designed to advance journalism. These projects can include topics like programming, design, financial strategies and more.
The fellowships can last up to 12 weeks, depending on the scope of the projects. Fellows will have access to the resources at Harvard, including its scholars, research centers and libraries.
Fellows receive a stipend prorated for the length of their fellowships as well as free housing for the length of their stay at Harvard.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 29.

Scholarships available for independent filmmaking workshop [US]

UC Berkeley's Investigative Reporting Program at the Graduate School of Journalism will host a professional workshop Oct. 22 to 24.
The training aims to elevate the journalistic standards of independent filmmakers, increase the impact of their stories and help them break new ground. Topics include interviewing and storytelling techniques; fairness; ethics; sources; and legal issues.
Tuition costs US$1,200. Full and partial scholarships are available, as well as travel stipends for those living outside the San Francisco Bay Area.

Knight Center hosts free online course on video journalism for digital platforms [Brazil]

Image result for Knight Center for JournalismThe Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, in partnership with Brazil's National Association of Newspapers and with the support of Google News Lab, is offering the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on "Video journalism: visual narratives for digital platforms."
The course will be held July 24 to Aug. 20, with instructors João Wainer and Alessandro Alvim. 
Participants will learn key concepts and techniques for producing effective video stories for the web.
The course is free and accessible to anyone from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. Those interested in receiving a certificate must pay a US$30 administrative fee.
