Financial journalism competition accepting entries [South Africa]

Journalists working in print, online or broadcast media can apply.

The Sanlam Awards for Excellence in Financial Journalism recognize and reward exceptional business journalism in South Africa.

Categories include individual business/companies, economy, financial markets, consumer financial education, African growth story, newcomer, lifetime achievement and journalist of the year.

Works must have been published or broadcast in 2019. With the exception of the African growth category, only stories published or broadcast in South Africa are eligible. Stories originally published in a language other than English must be accompanied by an English translation.

The winner of each category receives a prize of ZAR25,000 while the overall winner receives an additional ZAR35,000, and the best newcomer merit award amounts to ZAR20,000.

The deadline is Feb. 28.
