NASW offers travel fellowships for science conference [US, Canada]

Journalists and graduate students with a demonstrated interest in science writing can apply for a conference fellowship.

The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing (CASW) offers three types of fellowships to cover the cost of attending the New Horizons in Science briefings for journalists, as part of the Science Writers conference Oct. 25 to 29 in State College, Pennsylvania.

The CASW New Horizons Travel Fellowship is intended primarily for journalists from smaller metropolitan print and broadcast news outlets in the United States. Fellows receive US$1,200 and must participate in the New Horizons in Science briefings.

The National Association of Science Writers (NASW) Travel Fellowship is open to any science writer, editor, publication information officer or journalism instructor with a financial need and provides US$1,000.

The CASW Graduate Travel Fellowship is available to current students enrolled in a science writing program and offers US$1,000.

The deadline is Aug. 15.
