Fellowship to attend safety conference available [Worldwide]

Journalists who are fluent in English and interested in reporting on safety can apply for this fellowship.

The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), with support from the World Health Organization (WHO), is accepting applications for the Safety Reporting Fellowships.

The program will select 12 journalists from around the world to attend the Safety 2018 conference Nov. 5 to 7 in Bangkok, Thailand, as well as a pre-conference workshop Nov. 3 to 4.

The conference brings together over 1,000 of the world's leading researchers, practitioners, policy makers and activists to discuss experiences and solutions that aim to reduce the burden of unintentional injuries. This year's theme is “Advancing injury and violence prevention towards SDGs."

Fellows will deepen their understanding of injury prevention and sharpen the skills needed to cover this topic. The selected journalists are expected to produce at least three safety stories during and after the conference.

Priority will be given to journalists from low- or middle-income countries.

The fellowship covers travel, accommodations and conference registration.

The deadline is Aug. 17.
