Southern Environmental Law Center organizes journalism contest [US]

Image result for Southern Environmental Law CenterJournalists who focused on environmental issues in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia can compete for an award.
The Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC) hosts the annual Phil Reed Environmental Writing Award in two categories: book, for nonfiction books (not self-published), and journalism, for newspaper, magazine and online articles.
The award seeks to enhance public awareness of the value and vulnerability of the South's natural heritage by giving special recognition to writers who most effectively tell the stories about the region's environment.
Entries must have been published in the year ending Oct. 1, 2017 and have at least 3,000 words.
The winner in each category will receive US$1,000. 
The deadline is Oct. 1.
