Journalists from all media platforms can apply to attend a pre-session workshop on June 21 at the Investigative Reporters and Editors Conference in Phoenix.
The Poynter Institute, in partnership with the Stanford Open Policing Project, the Robert R. McCormick Foundation and the Investigative Reporters and Editors Conference, is offering "Inside 60 million police stops," a free training for journalists who want to learn how to explore the data involving police stops.
This intensive one-day workshop features top professionals who have researched/covered this story as guest faculty. Participants will also learn how to use databases to sort and make sense of statistics.
There are scholarships available for hotel and/or air travel.
The deadline is June 1.
