The Marguerite Casey Foundation Equal Voice Journalism Award aims to increase the public’s understanding of poverty in the United States.
Fellows and scholars selected will write at least one in-depth story or a short series from the point of view of families living in poverty and illustrate how language, culture and race influence public attitudes and policy about poor people.
Journalists will receive a stipend of US$2,250, plus up to US$1,000 in travel reimbursement. Students will receive US$500 and up to US$800 for travel.
The deadline is June 30.
