Fellowships for journalists available [US]

Budding and experienced journalists interested in civil rights reporting can apply for a one-semester fellowship.

The Columbia Journalism School hosts the Ira A. Lipman Center for Journalism and Civil and Human Rights, which will oversee a senior and a junior fellowship in 2020.

Although the fellowship is nonresidential, fellows have access to the resources of the journalism school, are expected to give a public presentation at the school and can mentor students. Fellows receive US$10,000.

The senior fellowship is open to candidates with 10 or more years of journalism experience. The junior fellowship is for those who have fewer than five years of full-time journalism experience.

The deadline is April 30.
