Journalism training focuses on Iowa caucuses reporting [US]

Journalists planning to cover the Iowa caucuses can apply for this free training.

Poynter is organizing "How to cover the Iowa caucuses" Sept. 20 to 23 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Participants will learn the skills and knowledge they need to best serve their audiences, hold candidates accountable and make ethical, informed choices about what to cover.

The instructors are experienced journalists, fact-checkers and academics, including Neil Brown, president of the Poynter Institute, Angie Holan, editor of Politifact, and Dennis Goldford, professor of political science at
Drake University.

Accepted applicants will receive accommodations and most meals. There are also limited travel scholarships available.

The deadline is Aug. 2.
