Pictures of the Year International (POYi) recognizes excellence in photojournalism, multimedia and visual editing that engages citizens worldwide.
Categories and awards include science and natural history, general news, spot news, natural disaster, portrait, news picture story, sports and more.
Winners will receive plaques, trophies and cash prizes. Top premier winners will receive US$500 to US$1,000.
Photographs entered must have been taken or published for the first time, either in print or online, between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2017. The entry fee is US$50.
The deadline for entries is Jan. 12, 2018.
