Small to medium-size news organizations can apply for in-house investigative training.
The Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) is bringing back its Total Newsroom Training. This free program aims to increase the ability of news organization to provide watchdog and enterprise coverage for its community and to produce work that can lead to positive changes.
The IRE provides a two-day training based on the organization's needs, using Microsoft Excel and Access for spreadsheet and data analysis, as well as other database management software.
Topics may include finding information online, key government documents, examining businesses and nonprofits, how to obtain public records, ethical decisions, ensuring accuracy and more.
The deadline to apply is July 2.
