Journalists ages 35 and younger who have written unpublished narrative journalism stories in Spanish can submit their work.
To promote narrative journalism in Latin America, the Escuela Móvil de Periodismo Portátil and Universidad de Guadalajara have announced the sixth edition of Las Nuevas Plumas - Concurso de Crónicas Inéditas en Español.
Each author can submit one entry, along with an autobiography that does not exceed 3,000 characters. The maximum length of the story is 17,000 characters, including spaces.
The winning entry will be published along with the work of other 14 finalists in a digital book. The author will also be invited to the International Book Fair of Guadalajara, where he or she will receive a cash prize of US$2,000. This year's edition includes a special mention for the best work sent from the United States, which will be published in that country by Univision.
Both winners will be able to participate for free in any online workshop offered by Escuela Móvil de Periodismo Portátil.
The submission deadline is Sept. 8.
