The Sharjah Art Foundation is accepting applications to its production program, which aims to support innovation and excellence in artistic practice through the encouragement of experimentation and risk-taking.

The program offers production grants to artists working in a range of media, including sculpture, installation, time-based media, artist’s books and performance.

A total of US$200,000 is available in this application cycle.

TAI Photo Grant launched [Worldwide]

Professional and amateur photographers ages 18 and older can enter this contest.

The Transparency and Accountability Initiative (TAI) has launched the TAI Photo Grant. The initiative seeks to promote conversation around transparency and accountability issues.

Photos can focus on manifestations of transparency and accountability in how citizens interact with government, use of public resources, sharing and use of data, integrity of companies and governments, and more.

Contestants may submit up to five photos and a story proposal.

The winner will receive US$8,000 to produce at least 30 photographs related to the themes of government and corporate transparency and accountability.

Grants focuses on reporting tropical rainforests [Africa, Asia]

Journalists interested in covering tropical rainforests can apply for this reporting grant.

The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting has launched calls for proposals for Rainforest Journalism Fund grants.

The Southeast Asia Rainforest Journalism Fund is open to local or regional media outlets in Southeast Asia. Applications may be received in English or Bahasa Indonesia.

The Congo Basin Rainforest Journalism Fund is open to local or regional media outlets in the Congo Basin. Applications may be received in English or French.

Awards typically range from US$2,500 to US$7,500.

Proposals are accepted on an ongoing basis.

TRACE International seeks investigative stories on bribery [Worldwide]

Print, broadcast and online reporters who focused on bribery cases can compete for a prize.

TRACE International, a nonprofit anti-bribery organization, hosts a prize for investigative reporting that focuses on uncovering commercial bribery with the goal of advancing transparency in the business community.

Works must have appeared in 2019 and may cover actual violations of law as well as activities that create significant conflicts of interest and related misconduct. Entries not originally written/produced in English must be accompanied by a translation.

Up to two winners will be selected to receive US$10,000 each, in addition to a funded trip to receive their award at a conference organized by TRACE International in mid-2020.

Two honorable mentions will each receive US$1,000.

Journalism Awards seeks entries [US]

Print, broadcast or online journalists working for outlets in the United States can apply for this award.

The Livingston Awards for Young Journalists for local, national and international reporting are an all-media, general-reporting competition in the United States.

Journalists ages 34 and younger can enter works related to current events or new information about old events. Awards of US$10,000 will be given to three journalists.

Works must have been published in 2019. Features and commentary are eligible.

The Arab Journalism Award, run by the Dubai Press Club, is accepting submissions from journalists who have exhibited creativity, objectivity and the ability to reach a range of sectors in Arab society.

Journalism fellowships available [Worldwide]

Business and economics journalists worldwide with at least four years of experience can apply for a fellowship in New York.

The Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism is accepting applications for its Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in Economics and Business Journalism, which aims to enhance journalists' understanding of business, economics and finance.

Fellows can choose from two academic tracks: a Certificate in Economics and Business Journalism, or the Master of Arts in Journalism. They also participate in off-the-record seminars and dinner meetings with corporate executives, economists and academics, and attend briefings and field trips to New York-based media companies and financial institutions.

Conducted during Columbia’s academic year from August through May, the fellowship accepts up to 10 fellows each year. Fellows receive free tuition plus a stipend to offset living expenses. Housing is available in a Columbia-affiliated facility.

Film festival focuses on women’s issues [Worldwide]

College and high school students can submit their short films and win a US$5,000 cash prize.

The Girls Impact the World Film Festival, presented by Connecther and Eloise DeJoria, is a film festival and scholarship program for high school and undergraduate college students.

The festival accepts short films that either raise awareness or propose solutions to a variety of global women's issues, including maternal health, microfinance initiatives, child marriage, sex-trafficking and poverty alleviation.

Films must be 3 to 6 minutes long and can be narrative, documentary, investigative reporting, music video, animation or curated film (film collage).

The festival will award over US$25,000 in prizes.

Applicants must be 25 or under and currently enrolled undergraduates or full-time high school students.

Journalism program open [US]

Rising juniors and seniors at U.S. universities can apply to participate in a training program.

Politico magazine is organizing its journalism institute to train a new generation of reporters. The program will provide intensive, hands-on training to university students interested in covering government and politics.

The summer session will run May 26 to June 5, 2020.

Room, board and transportation will be provided. Students will split time between American University in Washington and Politico's headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.

Student members of minority journalism associations are encouraged to apply. After completing the program, many students go on to internships or employment at POLITICO and at other news organizations.

Joan Shorenstein Center seeks entries for investigative reporting award [US]

U.S. news media organizations can apply for an investigative reporting award.

The Joan Shorenstein Center at Harvard seeks entries that have an impact on U.S. public policy at the national, regional or local level for its Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting.

The outlet who best promotes more effective and ethical government conduct, public policy or politics receives US$25,000. Five finalists receive US$10,000 each.

Submissions must have been published in 2019.
