CNN hosts several internships ranging from newsgathering to special feature programs, digital and sports.

The next intern program will run from Jan. 1 to April 30.

AFRINIC offers internet fellowship [Africa]

Journalists and others interested in internet operations and governance can apply for a fellowship to attend this conference.

The African Network Information Centre (AFRINIC) will host the AFRINIC-31 meeting Dec. 2 to 6 in Luanda, Angola.

Fellowships are available to help cover travel and living expenses associated with attending the event.

Fellows are expected to contribute to Internet Number Resource Management awareness in the AFRINIC service region and provide reports on how the fellowship has benefited their organization or country.

Abraji offers course on journalism, human rights [Brazil]

College students can attend this free course in São Paulo.

Oboré's Projeto Repórter do Futuro and Conectas, in partnership with Abraji and others, are organizing the course "Journalism and human rights" on Saturdays Sept. 14 to Oct. 26.

The course will feature press conferences and meeting with experts on topics such as torture, structural racism, slave labor, migration, refuge and the historical perspective of the international human rights protection systems.

There are 20 spots available.

Photography grant available [Worldwide]

Amateur and professional photographers can compete for a grant.

Spain-based Doctors of the World seeks entries for the International Humanitarian Photography Award Luis Valtueña. The award was created as a tribute to Luis Valtueña, Flors Sirera, Manuel Madrazo and Mercedes Navarro, aid workers killed in Rwanda in 1997 and Bosnia in 1995.

Photos must cover any of the following themes: humanitarian action, international cooperation and social exclusion, human rights violations, armed conflicts, natural disasters, refugee and immigrant populations, socially excluded groups, etc.

Contestants can submit up to 10 photographs, which can be part of a series or not. They may submit color photographs and/or black and white. Only photographs taken between January and October 2019 will be accepted. Works presented in previous editions will not be accepted.

The first prize winner will receive a grant of EUR6,000 (US$6,718) intended to carry out a photographic project about topics related to the activity of Doctors of the World.

The deadline for entries is Nov. 8.

Tech journalism contest open [Russia]

Russian journalists and media outlets can compete in this contest.

The Russian Venture Company organizes the Tech in Media 2019 contest for journalism focusing on science and technology. The contest aims to encourage better media coverage of innovations in Russia.

The contest has five categories: venture business, unmanned vehicles, artificial intelligence and machine learning, technology enthusiast, and biotechnology and genetic engineering.

Winners in each category will receive RUB100,000.

The Center for Digital Journalism at the University of Guadalajara will offer an online course on sports journalism Sept. 2 to Oct. 6.

Instructor Héctor González Villalba will teach participants to produce sports stories across different digital platforms.

HIPA seeks entries for Photography contest [MENA]

Professional and amateur photographers ages 18 and older can enter this competition.

The Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography (HIPA) seeks entries to its contest in four categories: water, portfolio (storytelling), mobile photography and general photography.

Photos must not contain any tags, signatures, initials, frame, borders, logos or any other references and/or marks added by the participant.

The organizer will award a total of US$450,000 in cash prizes. In addition to the grand prize, five winners will be chosen from each category and will receive US$4,000 to US$ 20,000.

The Gabriel García Márquez Foundation for a New Iberoamerican Journalism (FNPI) is organizing a series of workshops during the Gabo Festival Oct. 2 to 4 in Medellín, Colombia.

The workshops cover a variety of topics including satire journalism, investigative journalism, narrative journalism, journalism and feminism, verification and fact-checking, podcasting and data visualization.
