This program is a collaboration with the Google News Initiative and aims to bring innovation to journalism.
The workshop only has 20 spots available. It will carefully select its candidates to build a diverse group of media professionals with different skills and backgrounds.
The training will take place July 9 and 10 in Lisbon, Portugal.
The events offered by the News Impact Academy are free of charge. Travel and accommodation are at the expense of participants.

Journalism Prize focuses on children's rights [Brazil]
Citizen journalists with audio or video reports in Portuguese are eligible for an award.The Radiotube Citizen Journalism Prize is organized by nonprofit Criar Brasil and sponsored by the Petrobras Socio-Environmental Program.
The contest will select three audio and three video reports in Portuguese. Works must focus on human rights, especially the rights of children and adolescents and must be shared on Radiotube.
The winners will receive BRL1,000 to BRL1,800.

Saxonian Foundation offers Media seminar in Germany [Central, Eastern Europe]
Journalists ages 40 and younger who are proficient in German can apply for this free seminar.The Saxonian Foundation for Media Education (SSM, in German) will hold a seminar for journalists from Central and Eastern Europe Sept. 16 to 27 in Leipzig, Germany.
The program aims to give foreign journalists the opportunity to learn more about the German media and to strengthen international ties among journalists.
Candidates must work in media and have experience with the internet and social networking. Selected participants will arrive in Leipzig and take several trips. SSM will cover travel expenses, meals and lodging.

Journalists from Germany, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania can apply for this exchange program.The International Journalists' Programmes (IJP) offers a fellowship for journalists interested in reporting in the field of climate and energy. The program will take place between October and December.
After attending an introductory conference, selected journalists from Germany will work for six to eight weeks at one of IJP's partner media organizations and report for their own countries, while journalists from those countries will spend their time in a media in Germany.
Each participant will receive EUR3,800, which is expected to cover most travel, accommodation and living expenses.

Projects must document the causes and effects of one or more examples of present-day human migration; document the lives of present-day migrants, their journeys and receiving communities; or develop and test out classroom resources, curricula or public outreach materials that aim to increase understanding of the migrant experience and acceptance of migrant communities.
A typical grant will be less than US$30,000, but applicants may request up to U$70,000.

NED encourages applications from organizations working in diverse environments including newly established democracies, semi-authoritarian countries, highly repressive societies and countries undergoing democratic transition.
Grant amounts vary depending on the size and scope of the projects, but the average grant lasts 12 months and is around US$50,000.
NED is interested in proposals from organizations for nonpartisan programs that seek to: promote and defend human rights and the rule of law, support freedom of information and independent media, and promote accountability and transparency.
