Young journalists workshop open [Eastern Europe, Central Asia]

Journalists ages 18 to 26 from Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia can participate in this workshop.
The M100 Young European Journalists Workshop, organized with support from the Federal Foreign Ministry, Facebook and Deutsche Welle, will take place Sept. 10 to 19 in Potsdam, Germany. The theme of this year's workshop is "Journalism & political education in the social web."
The workshop connects actors in the diverse fields of journalism, political education work, social media and web video. Participants will also take part in the M100 Sanssouci Colloquium. 
The workshop will be held in English.
The organizers will cover accommodations and board, in addition to providing a travel allowance.

Storytelling projects on human migration open[Worldwide]

Storytellers, conservationists, educators and researchers can apply for a grant.
National Geographic Society is accepting applications for its Request for Proposals grant with a focus on documenting human migrations. 
Projects must document the causes and effects of one or more examples of present-day human migration; document the lives of present-day migrants, their journeys and receiving communities; or develop and test out classroom resources, curricula or public outreach materials that aim to increase understanding of the migrant experience and acceptance of migrant communities.
A typical grant will be less than US$30,000, but applicants may request up to U$70,000.

Revista Zum offers funds for photography projects [Brazil]

Brazilians or foreigners residing in Brazil can submit their photography projects to compete for a grant.
Revista ZUM is inviting entries to the ZUM/IMS Photo Fellowship, which will award two new projects with BRL65,000 each.
The grant will allow photographers to develop their work in various aspects on any theme and genre. Those selected will have eight months to develop the project.

ONA accepting applications for conference fellowships [Worldwide]

Digital journalists and students can apply for a fellowship.
The Online News Association is accepting applications for the MJ Bear Fellowship and the CNN Diversity Fellowship.
The fellowships provide registration, travel and accommodations for the 2018 Online News Association Conference and Awards in Austin, Texas. The MJ Bear fellow also receives three online coaching sessions and ONA membership.
The MJ Bear Fellowship is open to international candidates born between Sept. 14, 1988, and Sept. 13, 1995. The CNN Diversity Fellowship is open to journalists of diverse backgrounds, inclusive of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age and gender.

Reporting fellowship avalable [US]

U.S. and international reporters who cover Washington for any media outlet can apply for the program.
The National Press Foundation sponsors the Paul Miller Washington Reporting Fellowship, a nine-month seminar program to brief reporters about Washington agencies, institutions and organizations. It also provides journalists with fresh sources, story ideas and the opportunity to get to know and learn from other journalists.
Starting in September, journalists meet once a month for a daylong seminar about a different topic. In addition to learning innovative online tools, fellows take field trips to Capitol Hill, the Supreme Court, the Pentagon and other institutions.

FIAM FAAM offers Scholarships for master's in journalism [Brazil]

Students who wish to pursue a graduate degree in journalism can apply for this program.
FIAM FAAM, an institution of higher education in Brazil, offers partial and full scholarships for its professional master's degree in journalism in São Paulo.
The program is divided into two lines of research: "Journalistic languages and technologies" and "Journalism and the labor market."
Applicants must pass a specific knowledge test, a foreign language proficiency exam, research project evaluation and interview.
The deadline is Aug. 3. There is a BR150 application fee.

Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize accepting submission [Worldwide]

Photographers ages 18 and older can compete in a contemporary portrait contest.
The National Portrait Gallery in London, is accepting entries.  Applicants are encouraged to portray people with an emphasis on their identity as individuals.

The first place winner will receive GBP15,000 (US$20,156). One or more shortlisted photographers will be awarded cash prizes at the judges' discretion.
All selected photographers under the age of 35 are eligible for the John Kobal New Work Award. The winning photographer will receive GBP5,000 (US$6,718) and a commission from the Gallery to photograph a sitter connected with the U.K. film industry.
The entry fee is GBP28 (US$37) per photograph. Each applicant can submit up to six photographs.

Journalism fellowship program open [US]

Budding journalists interested in environmental issues can apply for a fellowship in Seattle.
Grist, a nonprofit environmental media organization, offers news, justice and video fellowships starting in September.
Fellows work full time, making daily contributions to Grist’s editorial operations including (but not limited to) research, reporting, story ideas, writing and multimedia experiments. The news and justice fellows can choose to work out of Grist’s Seattle office or remotely.
The fellowship pays US$2,750 per month. Fellows must make a six-month commitment, with the possibility of an extension.
Writers, reporters and editors, as well as all-stars in fields such as video, audio and multimedia, are encouraged to apply.
