Grants for journalism research available [US, Canada]

The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) organizes the Emerging Scholars Program. The program will award up to four US$3,500 research and teaching grants to AEJMC members.
The program seeks junior faculty members without tenure or media professionals who recently began full-time work at a university. Each scholar will be paired with a mentor to provide guidance throughout the project.
AEJMC will showcase initial results from 2018 grants during a session at its 2018 conference in Washington. In addition to the grant, scholars will receive US$500 to assist with travel expenses to the conference.
The deadline is Oct. 2.
