Print, broadcast or digital journalists who have written full-length books can be nominated for a US$15,000 award.
The New York Public Library presents the Helen Bernstein Book Award for Excellence in Journalism. Factors for consideration include the book's significance, its influence on public policy and a high standard of reporting and writing.
Books scheduled for publication between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2017 are eligible. Works of fiction, anthologies, collections of columns or articles are not allowed.
Books must be nominated by publishers or agents, not the authors. Nominations must include an application form, 10 copies of the book, reviews and the author's bio.
The deadline is Oct. 1.
